it is what it is, don't now what to say I don't think anybody is folding there.
pokerstars has a nack of putting the card that will happen to have you pay off players either on the turn, river or both as in this case.
In this case it was both the turn, which is an okay card for you but puts out the 4 card flush, which although you have made set I don't think you would be willing to go broke with this set, the river is the deal sealer for all money to go in.
This player could have easily had AcA* for nut flush thinking it was good and made same move to be paid off bet set
in hind sight however, I think it is a bet to have the nut flush pay him off, this overbet after river normally does scream nuts very few players expect top notch pro's would have the balls or type of read you need to pull off this kind of move in such early levels of such a big buy-in tourney.
with saying that I truly believe you or I'am not folding this cooler here, our style of play is to chip up or chip out and odds dictate its highly improbable that he would 7J clubs, JQ clubs for straight flush, 88 for quads or 1010.
This is why we play volume

Tough hand friend.
Yeah, I mean, it's a sick river overbet.
But only 4 hands beat you and the way this played out I would expect those hands to make smaller "value" river bets than this one.
I mean, you have the 5th nuts and got shoved on by the 4th nuts, LOLWTF. And, for the record I can definitely see someone spazzing out with the nutflush or a random 8/8 hi boat here...
I prolly make a crying call here too, and then just join a rebuy mtt and go nutso for a while....

My opinion is obviously more one of observation than experience...so with respect, the only thing I would have done different would be to put out a feeler bet on the flop to expose a possible flush and to also let him know you had a hand.....if he re-raised you then might have had a chance to further evaluate your hand and maybe get away from it at that time, or he may have put "you" on the flush...but when the boat hit....yeah all chips are in...there are very few, if any, players that would fold a boat when it appears that your opponent hit the flush.
Early in the big tournaments I see several "set up" hands"....you just happen to be on the wrong end of one....that's all.
You're a rock star BV! Keep showing us the way!!!

Actually....I'm surprised there wasn't a nut flush in the mix and two players weren't eliminated. _________________ "If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astonish ourselves."

Well.. after thinking about this and having only 1 player out of 30 say they would fold this.. I have determined that this should of been an EZ fold.. Considering that there were 5 hands that beat me here and it was so early (level 1) not to mention it was virtualy a dry pot. Bad call on my part.
2ff.. because 1 week later in the PS sunday mill (last Sund) I had a similar hand.. I lost boat over boat allin post flop level 1
Sick game at times .. lolz _________________ bobvalentine aka krimstone |
